Three Horse Shoes

In 1932, the widening of the road took place at the Three Horse Shoes corner and part of the wall that is visible on photograph buildings 77 was demolished for this purpose. This photograph seems to have been taken after the widening of the road hence my conclusion to the date of this photograph.

Is this Friend (Losh) Thorpe going in?

“‘Losh’, who gleamed the fire of the Horseshoe’s "taphole" and beamed with the chuckle of his secrets of the village where he was king”: From the poem The World of FORGOTTEN MEMORIAL by Alex Vodden

This photograph was taken from the top of the old “Ginny run” looking towards Church Street. To give you some idea of where the view is, Brierley club (the old Institute) would be behind the large building in the centre of the photograph. The new housing estate is built here now.
