The Lady Chapel East Window

This window bears the following inscription at the base, “In reverent memory of John Hoyland of Brierley priest, formally vicar of this parish and his wife Mary Ann eldest daughter of John Cordeux of Barnsley. This window is dedicated by their surviving children mcmxx.” The window is divided into three lights and in the left one is shown an angel standing on a flaming wheel and holding a shield bearing the crossed keys of St Peter. An angel in the right hand light also bears a shield divided by a zigzag line into two halves having a silver rose on one half and a red rose on the other.

The central depicts Christ on the cross with a dove hovering over his head and the faces of three angels at his feet. Three angels hold a scroll worded “to the honour and glory of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost.
