Church Street

This photograph would have been taken looking up Church Street from Cordeux corner. Rose Cottage is on the right and before the church is Fidling farm (Danny Oates). I can only presume that the buildings on the far left of the photograph are Fieldhead House and Fieldhead Cottage, which stood on the boundary and the car park of the present day Brierley Hall.

Past tenants of Fieldhead cottage have been the Steele family, Nurse Jowett and Ralph and Barbara Pearson who tenanted the cottage from 1959 to 1962 when the building and land was bought by the old Hemsworth Rural District Council to make way for the incongruous red brick extension Brierley Hall that we can see today .
