Date unknown probably 1980s?

Eddie and Nellie Woodward

Nellie was the adopted daughter to Danny Oates the well known local ice-cream manufacturer who worked from Fidling farm on Church street. She married Eddie and they had a house and ice-cream factory built  on the farm where they started to manufacture  and sell their ice-cream under the name  "Its Danny's". Their ice-cream won many diplomas. Their twin sons' Danny and David were the last to manufacture and sell the ice-cream when production stopped in the 1990s.

Sadly Eddie, Nellie and their son David have  passed on.

Eddie is seen wearing the Policeman's helmet of his son-in-law Des Columbine who married their daughter Kathleen.  I personally worked for Eddie and Nell on a number of occasions 'hawking' their ice-cream. There was always a bacon butty and a cup of tea for the drivers on a Sunday morning. I can honestly say they were two of the nicest, hard working people I have ever had the privilege to meet and work for. Gary webmaster
