Trevor Winch (Penistone) to Miss Anne Mathers

Anne lived on Barnsley Road. The reception was held at the Melbourne Arms Hemsworth. Anne was a civil servant and made her own wedding dress and those of the bridesmaids who were: Misses Jane Mathers, Christine and Maxine Davies. Best man was Ivan Winch and Messrs F and L Austin were groomsmen

John Anthony Clegg (Huddersfield) to Margaret Grimes

Margaret lived on Grange Road. The wedding was at St Paul’s Church and the reception was held at the Five Acres Country club. Both the bride and groom were employees of the NCB working t the House-warming centre in Norwich. Bridesmaid was Miss Janet Grimes and Mr David Middleton was the best man. Messrs Donald Johnson and Malcolm Pearson were groomsmen. The newlyweds visited the brides mother Mrs Ethel Grimes in Gateforth hospital after the reception. The couple moved to live in Norwich

Mr William Wild (Sheffield) to Miss Dorothy May Ross Gardner

The wedding took place at Felkirk St Peters and the reception was at Brierley Hall. Mr Wild was a director of the Sheffield foundry firm William Wild. The bride was the daughter of Lieut-Col W. Ross Gardner. Lieut-Col W. Ross Gardner was the chief medical officer of health for the Hemsworth Rural Council. The local newspapers referred to the occasion as “A wedding of considerable interest."

Mr John Grimes to Miss Pamela Barrett (Moorthorpe)

John lived on Common Road and the wedding took place at St Mary’s Church South Elmsall. The reception at the Upton Arms followed. John was a ventilation officer at Grimethorpe Colliery. The bridesmaids were Miss Janet Atkinson and Miss Barbara Finney. The best man was James Austin and David Arnold and Ronald Turner were groomsmen. The pageboy was Master Andrew James Austin. The couple spent their honeymoon in Torquay.

Bridesmaids at the wedding of Mr William Wild to Miss Dorothy May Ross Gardner

Miss Beree Ross Gardner (sister of the bride), Miss Yvonne Wilkinson, Miss Bobbie Magee and Miss Margot Wilson. The bridesmaids wore full picture dresses of pale green organza with silver stripe, Dolly Varden hats in organdie to match and they carried bouquets of white roses and lilies of the valley.

Mr John Neville Cooper Hodroyd Cottages to Miss Lynne Green (Grimethorpe)

The wedding took place at St Luke’s Church Grimethorpe followed by a reception at the Manor Grimethorpe. The bridesmaids were Misses Pauline Thomas and Sandra Green. Best man was Alan Brookes and Messrs David Arnold and John Grimes was groomsman. Lynne received a horseshoe from Ann Elizabeth Brooke and a rolling pin from Nicholas Tomlinson. John played in goal for Frickley Colliery
