Chris Sykes was  presented with a certificate of achievement from Jeff Ennis for raising over £10,000 for charity. The presentation took place at Brierley Village club on Saturday 1st October 2005. Local charities that have benefited from Chris's hard work over the last eight years include; Leukaemia Research, the Special Baby Care Unit at Barnsley & District General Hospital, Grimethorpe St John Ambulance and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Chris spends hours writing to various organisation around Great Britain and one of these was the BBC. He received a reply from them stating that they get so many requests they were unable to help. John Ruane from the Hilltop estate overheard Chris mentioning this to a member of the club and advised Chris to write back to them stating that "The letter was a repeat just like their programmes". Nice one John.

The photograph opposite shows Chris presenting Ian Walker from Norwood Drive a cheque for nearly £1,500 which were the proceeds from an auction Chris held in Brierley club in October 2004. The event was in aid of leukaemia research of which Ian was a recent sufferer
