Local Brierley man Terry Haynes recently visited Parliament to receive a Local Hero Certificate from The Experience Corps in recognition for all the hard work he has done for over 40 years with Grimethorpe St. John Ambulance.

Terry said, "It was a real honour to receive my certificate. I've really enjoyed all the voluntary work that I've undertaken with St. John's over the last 40 years, particularly my involvement with the junior members of the Brigade. This certificate not only recognises my involvement with St. John's in Grimethorpe but also all the other volunteers that help with the Brigade"

Speeches at the presentation event included one by Maggie Semple OBE Chief exec of the Experience Corps and Lord Brian Rix, former actor and Chief Executive of Mencap. The certificate was presented to Terry by his local MP Jeff Ennis.
