Methodist Church

The children’s Jam club will be at 10.30am on Sunday morning and the service at 10.15am will will be taken by Mr Edwin Hambleton. The welcoming steward will be Norma and Richard and Margaret Watson will provide this weeks flowers. The evening service at 6pm will be lead by the Reverend P Sharpe. There is a karate club on Wednesday and Thursday at 7pm. A Bible study will take place in the medical centre on Church Drive on Thursday at 7pm. On Wednesday 24 February the Reverend Dereck Hinchliffe will read further extracts from his book followed by a pie and pea supper. Tickets are £5 and are for the building fund. Bookings are now being taken for the Church Family fellowship weekend at Cloughton on 12 March.

 

Spiritualist Church

There will be a demonstration of mediumship tonight that will be taken by Anne Sharpe and on Sunday there will a further demonstration of mediumship taken by Gordon Cooke. Rest of the demonstrators for February are Janet Rushton, Elaine Connolly and Susan Ashton.

 

Three Horse Shoes

There is a quiz night at the Three Horse Shoes on a Thursday at 9.30pm and on Sunday at 8pm there is a music, conundrum and general knowledge quiz. On Sunday Andy, Jo and Josh won the quiz while Jo won the conundrum. The head to head was not won and will be for £95 next week. On Thursday Sharon, Jamie and Andy won the quiz and the nearest too question was won by Dan’s team. G Fab won the bottle of wine. 

 

Brierley Cubs FC

The under twelve’s played away to South Elmsall United on Sunday and lost 3-2. Man of the match for Brierley was Jake Hill while Michael Shaw and Kai Haddock were the goal scorers.  On Sunday they will play at Home to Brayton FC from Selby in the Charles Rice League cup. The kick of will be at 11am.

Amateur Radio

The South Yorkshire Repeater Group who are a team of amateur radio enthusiasts will meet in the Three Horse Shoes on the first Thursday of every month at 7.30pm. Contact Ernie Bailey for further details on 07984 191873.

 

Grange House

At Monday night’s social evening Doreen Bradbury won the raffle while Nellie Cartwright won on Thursday. June Hockey claimed Friday’s prize.

 

Concert

The New Mill Male Voice Choir will perform at Cudworth Methodist Church on Saturday 6 March. Tickets are £8 and the proceeds will go towards Brierley Methodist Church new building fund.

 

Slimming World

There is a meeting every Monday at 6.30pm in the Methodist Church Hall. Last week Toni Day-Jordan lost the most weight with a total of 12 pounds. The members lost a total of 61 pounds all together. For further details telephone Michelle on 07887 906493.

 

Line Dancing

Line dancing will take place in the Methodist Church hall on Friday at 6.30pm till 9pm.

 

Village club

There is a quiz night every Monday starting at 9pm.The winner last week was Volvo Phil.

 

Women’s Fellowship

The next women’s fellowship meeting that will take place in the Methodist Church Hall will be on Monday at 2pm.

 

Pop In

The next meeting of the Pop in club that is held at the Methodist church Hall will be on Thursday 18 February from 9.15am till 11am. Everyone is invited to pop in for tea, coffee, biscuits and a chat. Proceeds will be towards Church funds.
