Methodist Church

The Church council will meet on Monday at 1.30pm. The children’s Jam club will be at 10.30am on Sunday morning and the service at 10.15am will will be taken by Mr Shadbolt. The welcoming steward will be Jean and John and Hilary Draper will provide this weeks flowers. There is a karate club on Wednesday and Thursday at 7pm. A Bible study will take place in the medical centre on Church Drive on Thursday at 7pm. Bookings are now being taken for the Church Family fellowship weekend at Cloughton on 12 March.

 

Women’s Fellowship

The next meeting will take place in the Methodist Church on Monday 8 March at 2pm.

 

Concert

The New Mill Male Voice Choir will perform at Cudworth Methodist Church on next Saturday. Tickets are £8 and the proceeds will go towards Brierley Methodist Church new building fund.

 

Spiritualist Church

There will be Healing in the Sanctuary by trained lady volunteers tonight from 6pm till 6.45 followed at 7 with an open circle. A demonstration of mediumship by Susan Ashton will take place on Sunday at 6pm. On Tuesday 23 March there will be a charity demonstration of mediumship special with Diana Birks and Mary McCabe. Tickets are £3 and the proceeds will be for the PDSA.

 

Slimming World

There is a meeting every Monday at 6.30pm in the Methodist Church Hall. Last week the members lost a total of 22 pounds. Their first slimmer of the moth lost 12 pounds. For further details telephone Michelle on 07887 906493.

 

Pop In

The next meeting of the Pop in club that is held at the Methodist church Hall will be on Thursday from 9.15am till 11am. Everyone is invited to pop in for tea, coffee, biscuits and a chat. Proceeds will be towards Church funds.

Three Horse Shoes

There is a quiz night at the Three Horse Shoes on a Thursday at 9.30pm and on Sunday at 8pm there is a music, conundrum and general knowledge quiz. On Sunday the Dead Heads won the quiz while Andy came second. The head to head was not won and will be for £120 next week. On Thursday Dan, Libby and tem won the quiz and the Dead Heads won the nearest too question. Pat and Jim won the bottle of wine.  There will be karaoke tonight and on Saturday an eighties disco.

 

Bollingbroke House

Mayor of Barnsley Councillor John Parkinson will officiate at the homes official opening day on Wednesday at 1.30 till 4.30. A buffet and entertainment will also be provided. Father Peter Needham will give a service in the home on Wednesday morning 10 March.

 

Amateur Radio

The South Yorkshire Repeater Group who are a team of amateur radio enthusiasts will meet in the Three Horse Shoes on Thursday at 7.30pm. Contact Ernie Bailey for further details on 07984 191873.

 

Brierley Cubs FC

The under 12s game against South Elmsall Rangers was called of due to the weather. This Sunday they will play Royston Dynamos away with the kick off time to be arranged. Graham Hotchins the proprietor of Graham’s Taxi has agreed to sponsor the team next season.

 

Grange House

At Thursday night’s social evening Violet Gash won the raffle while Audrey Marsh won on Friday.

 

Line Dancing

Line dancing will take place in the Methodist Church hall on Friday at 6.30pm till 9.

 

Village club

There is a quiz night every Monday starting at 9pm.The winner last week was John Clarke. The club is under new management with partners Jim Watson and Bev Tailor taking the reigns.

 

Women’s Institute

The next monthly meeting of the WI will take place in the Methodist Church Hall on Wednesday 10 March at 2 and will involve women’s art and artists.
