Women’s Fellowship

The next women’s fellowship in the Methodist Church Hall will be on Monday at 2pm.

 

Spiritualist Church

There will be Healing in the church by approved healers tonight from 6 till 6.45pm followed at 7pm with a demonstration of mediumship that will be taken by Mary McCabe from Doncaster.    There will be a further demonstration of mediumship on Sunday from 6pm till 7.15pm and it will be taken by Susan Dilks from South Elmsall.  On Tuesday there will be a buffet and a demonstration of mediumship taken by Julie Winfield from 7 till 8pm. Next Friday there will be Healing in the church by approved healers from 6 till 6.45pm followed at 7pm by Sheila Chalkley from Royston who will lead a candle service and demonstration of mediumship. After this service the church will close for the holidays and reopen on Friday 4 Jan 2010. The church would like to wish everyone a loving and peaceful Christmas and thank everyone who has supported and served it throughout 2009.

 

Town Council

The pantomime Robin Hood will be coming to the Welfare hall Grimethorpe on Sunday.  If residents of Brierley are interested in watching the pantomime, the Town clerk Jan Cooper will run the Brierley Buzzer to transport people to the show, for further information telephone Jan or Sarah on 01226 714681. Father Christmas will be doing his rounds of Grimethorpe and Brierley on 19 and 20 December.

 

Grange House

Residents and friends enjoyed their Christmas party on Tuesday.  At the Thursday night social evening Liz Cook won the raffle while Violet Gash won on Friday. Adele Haigh claimed Monday’s prize.

 

Pop In

The next meeting of the Pop in club that is held at the Methodist church Hall will be on Thursday from 9.15am till 11am. Everyone is invited to pop in for tea, coffee, biscuits and a chat. Proceeds will be towards Church funds.

 

Village club

There is a quiz night every Monday starting at 9pm.The winner last week was Volvo Phil.

 

Brierley Cubs FC

In the Charles Rice Sunday league, the under 11s lost 6-1 away to Thorne Juniors. The scorer for Brierley was Kai Haddock and the manager gave the man of the match to both Jake Hill and Callum Ashford. They will play Royston Dynamos at home on Sunday kicking off at 12noon.

 

Three Horse Shoes

There is a quiz night at the Three Horse Shoes on a Thursday at 9.30pm and on Sunday at 8pm there is a music, conundrum and general knowledge quiz. On Sunday the Deadheads won the quiz while Gary and team came second. Us Thick Ones won the conundrum. The head to head was not won and will be for £165 next week. On Thursday Clair and Mick won the quiz while Rick and Ennis won the nearest too question.  Just Us Two won a bottle of wine.

 

Charity Auction

The annual charity auction organised by Brierley and its people in photographs will be held in the Three Horse Shoes on Monday 14 December at 8pm. If anyone as any items of auctionable value that they wish to donate please contact Gary on 07986 922476

 

Methodist Church

The children’s Jam club will be at 10.30am on Sunday morning and the service at 10.15am will be a Holy Communion thast will be taken by the Reverend Phil Sharpe. The welcoming steward will be Jean Rowley and Linda Hand will provide this weeks flowers. There is a karate club on Monday and Thursday at 7pm and the majorettes meet on Thursday and Friday at 4.30pm. A Bible study will take place in the medical centre on Church Drive on Thursday at 7pm. Next Saturday there will be a concert by Val and Geoff Littledyke and 20 of their young children. Light refreshments will be served.
