Auction

The annual charity auction that is organised by Chris Sykes will take place tomorrow in Brierley Social club starting at 8pm. This year the proceeds will be for the Grimethorpe St John Ambulance who relies solely on donations.

 

Bollingbroke House

Father Peter Needham will lead a service at the home on Wednesday. He visits every second Wednesday in the month.

 

Pop In

The next meeting of the Pop in club that is held at the Methodist church Hall will be on Thursday 22 October from 9.15am till 11am. Everyone is invited to pop in for tea, coffee, biscuits and a chat. Proceeds will be towards Church funds

 

Women’s Fellowship

The women’s fellowship meet in the Methodist Church Hall on Monday’s at 2pm.

 

Three Horse Shoes

There is a quiz night at the Three Horse Shoes on a Thursday at 9.30pm and on Sunday at 8pm there is a music, conundrum and general knowledge quiz. On Sunday Shy T won the quiz while Terry won the conundrum. The head to head was not won and will be for £78 next week. On Thursday, G Fab won the quiz and the nearest too question was won by C & J. The Dead Heads won the bottle of wine.

 

Boys Brigade

Both the Junior Boys and Company Section meetings will take place in the Methodist Church Hall. The 7 to 11 year olds meeting will take place from 6.30pm till 8pm and the older boys will meet from 7pm till 9. Edwin and Elizabeth Hambleton lead the boys.

 

Brierley Cubs

In a recent match in the Charles Rice league, the under 12s lost to Durker Juniors 10-2 away from home. . Scorers for Brierley were Kai Haddock and Callum McGinn. The manager gave the man of the match award to Michael Shaw. They will play the same team at home this Sunday kicking of at 11am.

 

Spiritualist Church

There will be Healing in the church by approved healers tonight from 6 till 6.45pm followed at 7pm with an Open circle. There will be a demonstration of mediumship this Sunday from 6pm till 7.15pm. The demonstrator has to be arranged. The rest of the demonstrators’ for October will be Ann Anderson from Retford and Linda Shepard from Rotherham.

 

Skipton Trip

The Skipton trip organised by the warden Linda Millburn is now full and will leave Grange House at 11am on Monday and returning at approx 4pm calling at the Wetherby Whaler at Durker for a fish and chip supper returning to Grange House at approx 8pm.

 

Methodist Church

The Sunday morning service at 10.15am will be lead by Mr T Marshall. The welcoming steward will be Pearl and Eva John and Hilary will provide the flowers. There is a karate club on Monday and Thursday at 7pm and the majorettes meet on Thursday and Friday at 4.30pm. A Bible study will take place in the medical centre on Church Drive on Thursday at 7pm. 

 

Village club

There is a quiz night every Monday starting at 9pm

 

Women’s Institute

The next meeting will take place in the Methodist Church on Wednesday
