Methodist Church

The children’s Jam club will be at 10.30am on Sunday morning and the service at 10.15am will be taken by Christine Halliday. The welcoming steward will be Norma Ryalls and John and Hilary Draper will provide the flowers. There is a karate club on Monday and Thursday at 7pm and the majorettes meet on Thursday and Friday at 4.30pm. A Bible study will take place in the medical centre on Church Drive on Thursday at 7pm. On Saturday 28 November at 2pm there will be a fashion show and models are required, please contact Edwin Hambleton. The proceeds will be in aid of church funds. On Wednesday 2 December at 7pm, the Reverend Derek Hinchliffe will be reading and telling stories from his autobiography “Before I forget”. There will also be a pie supper and question time.

 

Spiritualist Church

There will be Healing in the church by approved healers tonight from 6 till 6.45pm followed at 7pm with an open circle.  There will be a demonstration of mediumship on Sunday from 6pm till 7.15pm and it will be taken by Danny Lewis from Sheffield. The last demonstrator for November will be Sheila Chalkley from Royston. On Saturday 28 November there will be a crafts and private readings day from 11am till 4pm and on Tuesday 8 December there will be a buffet and a demonstration of mediumship taken by Julie Winfield from 7 till 8pm.

 

Grange House

The warden Linda Millburn has arranged a Christmas Fayre that will take place on Tuesday between 10.30am and 12 noon.

 

Pop In

The next meeting of the Pop in club that is held at the Methodist church Hall will be on Thursday from 9.15am till 11am. Everyone is invited to pop in for tea, coffee, biscuits and a chat. Proceeds will be towards Church funds.

 

Women’s Fellowship

The next women’s fellowship in the Methodist Church Hall will be on Monday at 2pm.

Brierley Cubs FC

In the Charles Rice Sunday league, the under 11s beat Normanton JFC 4-3 at home. The scorers for Brierley were Michael Shaw (2), Callum McGinn and Kai Haddock. The manager gave the man of the match to both Michael Shaw and Tyler Beckett. They will play Crofton on Sunday away from home. Kick off time to be arranged.

 

Three Horse Shoes

There is a quiz night at the Three Horse Shoes on a Thursday at 9.30pm and on Sunday at 8pm there is a music, conundrum and general knowledge quiz. On Sunday the Bar Standers won the quiz while the Dead Heads came second. Les Parry won the conundrum. The head to head was not won and will be for £145 next week. The Dead Heads won the quiz on Thursday while the Three Amigos won the nearest too question and JNS won a bottle of wine. Tonight’s entertainment will be provided by Ami Lea and next Friday there will be a Karaoke.

 

Town Council

The next meeting is on Tuesday at 6pm in the Council Chambers Grimethorpe. The pantomime Robin Hood will be coming to the Welfare hall Grimethorpe on Sunday 13 December.  If residents of Brierley are interested, the Town clerk Jan Cooper is willing to run the Brierley Buzzer to bring people down for the show. Father Christmas will be doing his rounds on 19 and 20 December.

 

Boys Brigade

Both the Junior Boys and Company Section meetings will take place in the Methodist Church Hall. The 7 to 11 year olds meeting will take place from 6.30pm till 8pm and the older boys will meet from 7pm till 9. Edwin and Elizabeth Hambleton lead the boys.

 

Village club

There is a quiz night every Monday starting at 9pm.The winner last week was Terry and the Legends.
