Town Council

The meeting of the Town council has been re scheduled to Wednesday  in the Council Chambers Grimethorpe at 7pm.

 

Pie and peas supper

There will be a pie and pea supper in Grange House on Tuesday starting at 5pm. The event is being organised by the warden Lind Milburn and is in aid of the residents and friends outing fund. Tickets will include tea or coffee followed by a sweet.

 

Brierley Cubs FC

In the Sunday Millennium league the under 11s game at away to the Dorothy Hymans was postponed due to the weather. They will play in the League Cup Final against Wincobanck  at Oakwell on Sunday 1 March with the kick of time to be arranged.

 

Pop In

The next meeting of the Pop in club that is held at the Methodist church Hall will be on Thursday from 9.15am till 11am. Everyone is invited to pop in for tea, coffee, biscuits and a chat. Proceeds will be towards Church funds.

 

Spiritualist Church

On Friday at 6 there will be Healing in the Sanctuary followed at 7 with an Open circle. On Sunday there will be a demonstration of mediumship at 6pm that will be taken by Norrie Milnes from Rotherham. Rae Hurley from Wakefield will take the service on the last Sunday in February.. Refreshments will be served after each service.

 

Women’s Fellowship

The Women’s Fellowship meets at the Methodist Church on Mondays at 2pm. Last week the Ladies enjoyed readings.

Three Horse Shoes

There is a quiz night at the Three Horse Shoes on a Thursday at 9.30pm and on Sunday at 8pm there is a music, conundrum and general knowledge quiz. On Thursday Smart Alex won the quiz and the nearest too question while Two plus Two won a bottle of wine. Sharks table won the quiz on Sunday while Bars r us won the conundrum. The Head to head was not won and will be for £40 next week. 

 

Pool

In the Smithies Wednesday night pool league, the village club lost 6-1 at home to Honeywell. The winning player for Brierley was Craig Rounds. Next week the team will play at home to Haddon Road club.

   

 

Boys Brigade

Both the Junior Boys and Company Section meetings will take place in the Methodist Church Hall on Wednesday. The 7 to 11 year olds meeting will take place from 6.30pm till 8pm and the older boys will meet from 7pm till 9. Edwin and Elizabeth Hambleton lead the boys.

 

Methodist Church

The Sunday service at 10.15am will taken by Mr H Barnett and the welcoming steward will be Jean. Mary Winham will provide this weeks flowers. The Rev B Russell will lead the evening service at 6pm. There will be a karate class on Monday at 7pm and on Thursday and Friday the majorettes will meet at 4.30pm.

 

Grange House

After the bad weather, the social evenings at Grange house are now back to normal. The winner of the raffle on Monday night was Audrey Marsh.

 

Village club

There is a quiz night every Monday starting at 9pm. The winner last Monday was Volvo Phil
