Regular events and meetings:

 

Brierley Historic Photographic Society

Meets on Monday and Wednesday 10am till 12 and Thursday night 7pm till 9pm when Jean Mann will be available to answer any Genealogy questions.

Garden and Allotment Society;

Meet the first Wednesday in every month in the Three Horse Shoes at 9pm.

Brierley Labour Party;

Meet the last Sunday in every month in Brierley Social club at 10am.

Brierley Village (Community) Partnership;

Meet every second Tuesday in the month in their offices at Brierley Hall at 7pm.

Quiz Night

Every Thursday in the three Horse Shoes starting at 9pm.

Brierley Village club.

Artistes Friday and Sunday. Bingo with cash prizes Tuesday and Thursday.

 

Social Club.

Angela Gillespie won the £100 tote on Sunday night with winning numbers 12 and 31. Doreen Henstock won the mixed grill on Friday. The artiste tonight Friday, will be Dave Vanstasen. On Sunday Joe Bloggs will provide the entertainment. The winners of the gallon of beer draw were Stan Williams and Wagger. On Wednesday there will be a Karaoke night Monday is games night and Tuesday and Thursday is bingo.

 

Football

Brierley cubs will play at home to Moorthorpe Empire in their last match of the summer season this Saturday. Players and volunteers to put up the goalposts are asked to meet at 9.30am.

 

Pop in Club

The next ‘Pop in’ session where everyone is invited for refreshments and a chat, will be held at the Methodist Church Hall on Thursday August 1 between 9.15 and 11.15 am.

 

Methodist Church

Mr w Ashton will take the Sunday morning family service at 10.15am and the evening service at 6pm will be a joint service at Emmanuel Church in Barnsley. On Tuesday at 7.30pm there will be a ladies recreation evening.

 

Coffee Morning

A coffee morning will be held at the Tara offices on Hillside every Tuesday morning from 10 while 12. Bingo and raffle will also be played

 

THS Quiz

In the Three Horse Shoes on Thursday night Pauline & Co. & friends cleaned up winning the £10 prize money for the quiz and £6.40 for the nearest to question. The event is held every week and starts at 9pm.

 

Barn Dance

The Methodist Church will hold a Barn Dance and Barbeque at the Churchfield’s school Snydale Road Cudworth tonight Friday. Tickets are available by telephoning Mrs Elizabeth Hambleton on 01226 713654.

 

Action Team for Jobs

The Action Team for Jobs will be back to normal on Wednesday morning meeting in the History Society rooms at the rear of Brierley Hall at 10 till 12.15pm

 

Girls Brigade

The Girls Brigade under the leadership of Janet Baxendale will meet in the Methodist Church Hall on Monday at 7.15pm.

 

Skegness Trip

Residents and friends from Grange House enjoyed a trip to Scarborough on Wednesday. The event was organised by the warden Linda Milburn.

Women’s Fellowship

There was a guest speaker at last Wednesday’s Women’s Fellowship meeting. Pianist was Mrs Margaret Watson

 

St Paul’s Church

Judith Bradford will read this week’s lesson at the Eucharist service on Sunday at 9am. Father John Baskerville will take the service.

 

Spiritualist

Sunday will be a service of hymns, prayers and clairvoyance and will be taken by Dave Rawlings from Rotherham at 6pm. Next Friday at 6pm, there will be healing in the sanctuary by trained volunteers followed at 7pm by an open circle. Next Sunday Rae Hurley from Wakefield will take the service. To ease traffic congestion on Church Street visitors are asked to use the Brierley Hall car park.
