Primary School Activities

Four pupils from Miss Allen's class took part in a science activity day at the Priory Campus recently and on Tuesday, Mr Danforth escorted twelve children to the Metrodome to take part in Science, engineering and technology in sport activities as part of National Science week 2001. On Friday 20 March, Miss Allen's class will visit the Mexborough and Swinton Observatory at Hoober, near Wentworth.

 

Spiritualist

There will be healing in the sanctuary on Friday night at 6pm till 6.45 followed by an open circle at 7pm. Mary McCabe from Doncaster will take the Sunday service at 6pm till 7-15pm.

 

Fellowship

Mr F Race will be guest speaker at the Women's fellowship meeting at 2pm today (Wednesday). Margaret Watson will be pianist

 

Coppins

An open day will be held today at the Coppins residential home. 2.30 till 5.30pm. A Social evening is planned for the 20 April where artiste Adam Stark will entertain the residents and friends at 5pm. Refreshments will be provided and everyone is invited. Tickets are £1 and details can be obtained from Pat Homer on 01226 712049

 

Weight Watchers

At the weekly meeting in the Methodist Church hall, the members of the weight watchers lost a total of 33.5 pounds.

Social Club

The quiz winner at Friday night's social evening was Chris Sykes while Mick Gough was the winner of the conundrum. Kevin Elvidge won a meat pack and Simon Carter won four free pints. The Sunday night tote numbers were 9 and 26 and the £160 prize was won by Tony Day. This Sunday's artiste will be Mark Antony. There will be a leaving party in the club tonight (Friday) for the present manager Joe Minnock and his partner Lynn.

 

Methodist Church

Mr A Brown will take the Sunday morning service at 10.15am, while the Rev Leslie Newton will take the evening service at 6pm. Mrs M Winham will present this week's flowers. Mrs Janet Baxendale will lead the Girls Brigade on Monday at 7.15pm, and on Tuesday there will be a ladies recreation evening at 7.30pm.

Jumble Sale

There will be a jumble sale at the Methodist church on Saturday 24 March at 1pm till 3pm. It is free admission and everyone is welcome

 

Grange House

The winner of the raffle prize at the Monday night social evening was Violet Gash while Jean Crowshaw won on Thursday. Friday's winner was Sue Pearson.
