Women's Fellowship

The speaker at the meeting of the Women's Fellowship on Wednesday in the Methodist Church was Mrs R Smith. Margaret Watson was pianist

 

Quiz

The winner of the Sunday night quiz for £10 at the Three Horse Shoes was Rif Raf

 

St Paul's

Father John Baskerville will conduct the Eucharist service this Sunday morning at 9am. Jean Johnson will read the lesson. Tickets are now on sale from any church member for the Strawberry tea, which will be held on Sunday 15 July at 2pm till 4pm. There will also be a selection of old Brierley photographs on display from the Brierley Historic Photographic Society (BHPS and formally Baipip) archives. Tickets are £1.50 and will include strawberries and cream

 

Hair Shave

Ian Gomersall will have his hair shaved for charity at the Methodist Church garden party which will be held on the 7 July at 3pm. Former Brierley resident Bill Baxendale will open the event at 3pm. Everyone welcome

 

Primary School

Mr Damforth escorted his pupils to a Kwik cricket competition, which was held at Ladywood School yesterday. Today children from Miss Allen's class will visit Canon Hall for a Victorian Day. On Monday and Tuesday Mr Damforth will be taking his class to an activity circus at Willowgarth School and on Wednesday there will be a netball tournament

Social Club

Chris Sykes won the Friday night quiz and Mick Gough won the conundrum. Don Jones won a gallon of beer. Mary Clarke won the Sunday night tote for £160 with numbers 4 and 24. Rose Creasey won the mixed grill. Kevin Elvidge won the Sunday afternoon quiz

 

Methodist

Mr Edwin Hambleton will take the Sunday morning service at 10.15am while Mrs Hambleton will be organist. The Rev Gill Newton will be assisted by Deacon Chris Greening for the evening service at 6pm.. Mrs Eva Draper will provide this weeks flowers. There will be a ladies recreation evening on Tuesday at 7.30pm

 

Spiritualists

There will be healing in the sanctuary on Friday at 6pm till 6.45 followed by an open circle at 7pm. On Sunday there will be a guest speaker to take the service at 6pm

 

Garden and allotments

There will be a meeting of the Garden and allotment society in the Three Horse Shoes on Sunday morning at 10.30am. New members will be made welcome. Telephone Pat Nichols on 01226 710888 for details

 

Labour Party

Jeff Ennis MP attended the meeting of the Brierley Labour Party that was held in Brierley Social club on Sunday

 

Grange House

At the Monday night social evening Mrs Foster won the raffle while Mr Dinsdale won Thursday's prize. Mrs Guest won on Friday
