Fellowship: The ladies will give readings at the meeting of the ladies fellowship meeting at the Methodist Church this Wednesday at 2pm. Mrs Margaret Watson will be pianist.

Boys Brigade: Mr and Mrs E Hambleton escorted seven members of the junior section to Robin Hoods Bay last weekend. The boys enjoyed swimming and visits to the beach, and they also visited the Maritime museum. Highlight of the weekend was when they visited Goathland where the TV series Heartbeat is filmed. They also paraded at the Sunday service at the Church in Robin Hoods Bay.

Ben Nevis Challenge: Seven male members from the Social club will take part in the Ben Nevis Challenge in October in aid of Cancer Research. If you wish to sponsor any of the lads please ring Simon Taylor on 01226 716373.

Weight Watchers: At the weekly meeting held in the Methodist Church on Monday night, the members lost a total of 33 pounds.

Audition night: Three new up and coming artistes entertained members of the social club at an audition night on Wednesday.

St Paul's: Father John Baskerville will take the Sunday morning service at 9 am. Mrs Kenworthy will read this weeks lesson.

Pool: In the Sam Smiths Tuesday night pool league the social club lost 9-0 away to the Alexandra club at Royston.  

Quiz: At the Sunday night quiz night held in the Three Horse Shoes, Pat McKernan won the £20 prize money.

Healthy School: A meeting will be held today (Wednesday) at 3.30 in the Primary school for volunteers who have joined the schools Healthy Task Group. The aim of the group is to make the staff and pupils healthier and happier. For further information contact Miss Allen at the school.

Social Club: At the Friday night social evening, Mick Gough won the quiz and David Conroy and David Smith won a gallon of beer each. Albert Taylor and Johnny Leyland won the meat packs. Mary Clarke won the Sunday night tote for £80 with numbers 2 and 10. Next Sunday's artiste will be Bob Hughes.

Request: Baipip is assisting Dave McKenzie, a teacher at Willowgarth School in building up the schools web-site of old photographs of Willowgarth School and pupils. If you have any photographs that we could loan please E-mail Gary or Mr McKenzie. The Willowgarth web site won the Golden Owl award last year.

Methodist Church: Mrs R Miles will take both the Sunday morning service at 10.15am and the evening service at 6pm. The organist will be Mrs Hambleton. The ladies from the fellowship will present this weeks flowers.

Partnership: The members of the steering group of the Brierley Village Community Partnership held their final meeting in Brierley Hall tonight (Wednesday. The group will hopefully decide a time and place for a public meeting where new officers will be elected.

Spiritualist: There will be healing in the sanctuary on Friday night at 6pm till 6.45 followed by an open circle at 7pm. Shaun Roper from Street House, Castleford will lead the Sunday service at 7pm. It is pay on the door (£2) for the Clairvoyance evening on the 2 May. Janet Rushforth from Normanton will take the service that will start at 7.30pm.

Coppins: Adam Stark entertained the residents and friends at a social evening at the Coppins recently. Winners in the raffle were, Mavis Butcher, Vickie Mallinson, Ida Wilson, Christine Hanwell, Ian Johnson, Ada Armitage and Sid Armitage. Christine Hanwell won the guess the weight of the cake.

Grange House: Louise Milburn won the raffle at the social evening held in Grange House on Monday. Pat Hardwick won on Thursday and Doris Pugh claimed Fridays prize.
